Why Ranges Matter: Each Resource core rolls within these ranges during generation, creating variety even within the same size category. Notice the overlap between tiers - a god-roll Medium core (4 RPT, 2 Links, 5 HP) can compete with a low-roll Large core (3 RPT, 1 Link, 4 HP). This creates meaningful chase mechanics where quality matters as much as size.

Example Rolls:

  • Medium (god roll): Cost 1, 4 RPT, 5 HP, 2 Links - incredible value

  • Medium (low roll): Cost 3, 2 RPT, 3 HP, 1 Link - still playable

  • Large (god roll): Cost 2, 6 RPT, 8 HP, 3 Links - premium core

  • Large (low roll): Cost 5, 3 RPT, 4 HP, 1 Link - expensive but reliable

  • Massive (god roll): Cost 4, 10 RPT, 12 HP, 4 Links - game-winning

  • Massive (low roll): Cost 8, 5 RPT, 7 HP, 2 Links - slow but powerful

Key Rules:

  • Maximum 2 Resource cards deployed per turn

  • Resources pool globally by type

  • All Resource cores are immobile (cannot move)

  • Generate resources during Resolution Phase

  • RPT = Resources Per Turn (how much the core generates each turn)

🌈 Resource Types

StarCore uses five distinct resource types that power different aspects of gameplay:

⚡ Energy - Powers technology, weapons systems, and high-speed units. The most versatile resource type, commonly used across all factions. Energy cores are typically efficient and reliable.

⚙️ Matter - Fuels construction, armor, and physical mass. Essential for defensive structures and heavy units. Matter-focused decks excel at durability and territorial control.

📡 Signal - Drives control systems, data networks, and precision effects. Signal enables complex interactions, card draw, and tactical manipulation. Critical for combo-oriented strategies.

💚 Life - Supports biological units, healing, and regeneration effects. Life resources enable sustain strategies and recursive gameplay patterns. Less common but powerful in specialized decks.

⭐ Omni - The universal wildcard resource that can substitute for ANY other resource type. Extremely rare (Epic+ rarity only) and highly flexible. Most decks run 0-2 Omni cores maximum due to scarcity and high cost.

Strategic Note: Most competitive decks focus on 1-2 primary resource types with occasional Omni cores for flexibility. Mixing too many resource types dilutes your economy and makes early-game deployment inconsistent.

📊 Typical Deck Composition

Resource Count: 12-14 cards (20-23% of 60-card deck)

Recommended Distribution:

  • 4-6 Small cores (early game foundation)

  • 4-5 Medium cores (mid-game scaling)

  • 2-3 Large cores (late-game power)

  • 0-1 Massive cores (optional finisher)

Resource Type Focus:

  • Mono-type: 12-14 cores of single type (most consistent)

  • Dual-type: 6-8 primary + 4-6 secondary (balanced)

  • Multi-type: Requires Omni cores (advanced strategy)
