Pet Card Stat Ranges

Pet Core Traits

  • Non-targetable (cannot be attacked, removed, or affected by any card effects)

  • Token accumulators (gain tokens based on gameplay triggers)

  • Activated abilities (spend tokens for Pet Bond benefits)

  • 3 activations maximum (limited uses per game)

  • Pet Bond effects (cannot be modified, amplified, or prevented by any cards)

  • Deck archetype rewards (each Pet supports different strategies)

  • Simple tracking (clear triggers, easy token counting)

  • No stats (DMG/HP/Range/Movement/Links/Ports - N/A, non-targetable)

Pet Activation Examples

Combat Pet (T4 Example)

  • Cost: 1 resource

  • Token Trigger: Each time you play a Combat card, gain 1 token

  • Activation: Spend 5 tokens → Deal 2 damage to target

  • Max Uses: 3 activations per game

  • Deck Fit: Aggressive decks running 20+ Combat cards (Actions + Units)

Resource Pet (T6 Example)

  • Cost: 2 resources

  • Token Trigger: Each turn you spend 3+ resources, gain 1 token

  • Activation: Spend 4 tokens → Gain 2 resources

  • Max Uses: 3 activations per game

  • Deck Fit: Ramp decks running Vehicles/Spaceships (high-cost units)

Control Pet (T5 Example)

  • Token Trigger: Each time a card goes to Scrapyard or Void, gain 1 token

  • Activation: Spend 5 tokens → Return 1 card from Scrapyard to hand

  • Max Uses: 3 activations per game

  • Deck Fit: Removal-heavy decks, grind/attrition strategies


Tier Scaling Rules

Token Requirements Scale with Tier

  • T1-T3: Lower token requirements (easier to activate early)

    • Combat Pet: 4 tokens required

    • Utility Pet: 2 tokens required

  • T4-T6: Mid-range token requirements

    • Combat Pet: 5 tokens required

    • Utility Pet: 3 tokens required

  • T7-T8: Higher token requirements (more powerful effects)

    • Combat Pet: 6 tokens required

    • Utility Pet: 4 tokens required

Effect Power Scales with Tier

  • T1-T3: Lower effect values

    • Combat Pet: Deal 2 damage

    • Defense Pet: Heal 3 HP

    • Resource Pet: Gain 2 resources

  • T4-T6: Mid-range effect values

    • Combat Pet: Deal 2-3 damage

    • Defense Pet: Heal 3-4 HP

    • Resource Pet: Gain 2-3 resources

  • T7-T8: Higher effect values

    • Combat Pet: Deal 3 damage

    • Defense Pet: Heal 4 HP

    • Resource Pet: Gain 3 resources

    • Utility Pet: Draw 2 cards

Cost and Activations NEVER Scale

  • Cost: Always 1-2 resources (Pets are cheap enablers)

  • Max Activations: Always 3 per game (hard limit prevents abuse)


Strategic Design Notes

Non-Targetable Status:

  • Pets CANNOT be attacked, destroyed, or removed by any means

  • Pets CANNOT be buffed, debuffed, or affected by any card effects

  • Pet Bond effects CANNOT be countered, negated, or prevented

  • Once deployed, Pets stay in play entire game (barring game loss)

3 Activation Limit:

  • Prevents infinite loops or game-stalling strategies

  • Creates meaningful decision points (when to spend tokens?)

  • Ensures Pets enhance gameplay without dominating

Token Triggers:

  • Combat Pet: ~15-20 triggers per game (aggressive decks)

  • Defense Pet: ~10-15 triggers per game (defensive decks)

  • Support Pet: ~8-12 triggers per game (buff-heavy decks)

  • Control Pet: ~12-18 triggers per game (removal/grind)

  • Resource Pet: ~8-12 triggers per game (ramp/big-mana)

  • Utility Pet: ~6-10 triggers per game (card draw decks)

Deck Building Implications:

  • Including a Pet signals deck archetype to opponent

  • Combat Pet → Expect aggressive Combat-heavy strategy

  • Resource Pet → Expect late-game expensive threats

  • Control Pet → Expect removal and recursion loops

  • Utility Pet → Expect card draw and combo potential
