Card Rarity

October 13, 2025 v1.2 (needs updating to new card design - update icons)

Overview

In the StarCore universe, every card belongs to a rarity tier. There are 8 rarity levels in total. Rarity defines not only how frequently cards appear, but also their mechanical impact and lore significance within the game. Each rarity has a distinct color identity used across card frames, rarity gems, and interface highlights.

Rarity Order: Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Unique → Artifact → Set → Legendary

Rarity Tiers

Common

Color: White Role: Basic units, power cores, and entry-level resources. Commons form the foundation of every deck. Lore: "The everyday fragments of the Core Wars — abundant but essential."

🔵 Uncommon

Color: Light Blue Role: Basic units with small bonuses or benefits. Slightly more specialized than Commons. Lore: "Simple but useful."

🔵 Rare

Color: Blue Role: Introduce stronger mechanics, new synergies, and early faction identities. Solid strategic options. Lore: "Found within deeper vaults, these constructs channel power in ways less often seen."

🟣 Epic

Color: Purple Role: High-impact, deck-defining cards that often serve as the centerpiece of a strategy. Lore: "Few witness the rise of an Epic Core — fewer still command one."

🔴 Unique

Color: Red Role: Truly one-of-a-kind. Only one copy may exist in any deck, often with game-warping effects. Lore: "There is only one. To control it is to rewrite the battle."

🟤 Artifact

Color: Bronze/Brown Role: Ancient relics and powerful objects with unique abilities. Artifacts often have special rules or interact with multiple systems. Lore: "Remnants of a forgotten age, their purpose obscured but their power undeniable."

🟢 Set

Color: Green Role: Gain bonus effects when played together. Sets reward collection and strategic harmony across multiple cards. Lore: "Linked fragments resonate; a single piece whispers, but together they roar."

🟡 Legendary

Color: Gold Role: Lore-rich and visually distinct. Legendaries reshape the battlefield and define eras of play. The highest rarity tier. Lore: "Forged in forgotten wars, their power echoes through the ages."
